What we do
At Capitol Knights Chess, I focus on honing students' skills and knowledge in all areas of chess, including openings, middlegame tactics, and endgame strategies. The customized curriculum caters to all levels of expertise, from beginners to advanced players, and our lessons are engaging, creative and fun.
Personalized coaching
Our one-on-one chess lessons provide personalized instruction to help students improve their game in a fun and engaging way. Sessions are offered in person and online, with each lesson tailored to the student's goals and skill level to support steady, meaningful progress.

I have experience working with neurodivergent students, including those with ADHD, and I value the unique strengths that students with all learning styles bring to the table. I strive to create a supportive, patient environment where every student can thrive.

About Me
Hi! I'm Taylor, the founder of Capitol Knights Chess. I'm a graduate of Elon University, where I was the president and founder of the university's chess club. I'm an expert chess player with extensive national tournament experience, and I have many years of experience teaching the game to players of all levels.

I have led afterschool chess programs and tutored students of all ages, both online and in person. I’ve worked with students who have a wide range of learning styles and focus on building from each student’s strengths to make chess interactive, engaging, and fun. I’m passionate about sharing my love for the game and helping students discover all that chess has to offer.

I offer tutoring sessions both in person and online to accommodate what works best for your student. Each session is tailored to your student’s individual needs and goals, focusing on strategic growth while fostering a lasting love of the game.

In-person chess lessons provide engaging instruction tailored to each student’s level. Students build confidence, sharpen critical thinking skills, and enjoy learning chess in a supportive, face-to-face environment.

Online chess lessons are interactive, fun, and tailored to each student’s skill level. Whether the student is just learning the moves or working toward tournament play, I focus on building confidence, critical thinking, and a love of the game—one move at a time.

Chess Course Bundle
(6 sessions)
The six-lesson bundle offers a discounted rate per session while providing consistent, structured chess instruction. It’s a great way for students to build momentum, track progress, and develop strong fundamentals over time.
